St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Anderson SC was founded in 1943 by the Franciscans of the Holy Name Province, New York. The intention then and today, was and is to, in the spirit of Jesus Christ and St. Francis, minister in and with the African American Catholic community and to reach out to the African Americans of Anderson County. Furthermore, all who come to St. Mary’s from whatever background and ethnicity with a desire for Christian family will be regarded as brothers and sisters to us. We also see ourselves as called to live in Gospel relationship to the alienated and the poor of this community.
AIM is an efficient non-profit organization that meets the needs of struggling individuals and families in Anderson County. AIM was founded by churches to eliminate the duplication of assistance to those in need. For almost three decades, AIM has stabilized the community and continued to do so using its hand up, not hand out, philosophy. AIM is well known in the Upstate for giving hope and changing lives and continues to do so with unparalleled levels of energy, efficiency, and reliability.
Habitat for Humanity believes everyone should have an affordable, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. To date, Habitat Anderson has helped more than 70 low-income households achieve affordable homeownership.

The mission of Calvary Home for Children is provide help, hope, and home to abused and neglected children in Upstate South Carolina.
Safe Harbor is a private 501(c)3 non-profit organization that offers a continuum of services for survivors of domestic violence and their children in Greenville, Anderson, Pickens and Oconee Counties. Our services include a 24/7 help line, safe emergency shelters, counseling for survivors and their children, case management, assistance with filing for an Order of Protection, transitional housing, domestic violence education and parenting classes, and group support.
A seven day supply of first quality non-perishables are provided as emergency food to individuals and families who are in need of assistance.
Potential recipients are those in need of emergency food due to loss of a job, extended illness, natural disaster, etc. Applications are taken over the phone, in-person or by a referring agency or church registered with the Food Bank.
This ministry will, in the spirit of God’s call to compassion, serve the homeless, poor, and marginalized by providing facilities for them to achieve basic hygiene, cleanliness, mail and phone access, and to help direct them toward the availability of other services they may need.
We will help our clients feel better physically, improve their self-worth and confidence, and support them in improving their situations. Our staff of volunteers will treat clients with respect and provide a safe, welcoming environment to help them maintain a feeling of dignity through their daily
contact with others.
